The short answer
iCal is free and is enough for many properties, but it only syncs dates, not prices or guest details, and not in real time. On Booking.com it only works if you have up to 20 room types, one unit per room type, and you don't use a channel manager. If you have several identical rooms or change prices often, you need a channel manager.
What iCal is
It is a common way for one calendar to "read" another. Each platform gives you a link with your booked dates. You put the Airbnb link into Booking.com and vice versa, or both into a booking program, and each side blocks the days booked on the other.
Who can use it on Booking.com
According to Booking.com's partner help, for calendar sync the property must have "20 room types or less, and a maximum of one unit per room type", and must not use an XML connection through a PMS or channel manager.
In practice: if you have three identical double rooms listed as one room type with three units, iCal on Booking.com isn't available with that set-up.
What syncs and what doesn't
| Item | With iCal | With a channel manager |
|---|---|---|
| Booked dates | Yes | Yes |
| Prices | No | Yes |
| Minimum stay, restrictions | No | Yes |
| Guest details | No | Yes |
| Speed | Every few hours | Almost instant |
| Cost | Free | Monthly subscription |
How long the delay is, and why it matters
Booking.com writes that calendars "aren't synced in real time". According to Futurestay's guide (September 2026), Booking.com refreshes imported calendars roughly every 2 hours and Airbnb roughly every 3 hours. In that window, the same days can appear free on both platforms, and two bookings can come in for the same room.
For a property with few bookings a day the risk is small, but real, mainly in peak periods and for last-minute bookings.
When iCal is enough
- A few rooms, each listed as a separate room type.
- Prices you don't change every day.
- Few last-minute bookings.
When you need a channel manager
- Several identical rooms under the same room type.
- Many platforms and frequent price changes.
- High occupancy, where an overbooking costs a lot.
Many property owners, on the other hand, prefer to enter bookings into a booking program, such as StaySnap, and block the days on the platforms themselves.
